  Job Summary Will be responsible for providing direct or indirect care, under the supervision of a physician based on their scope of training to patients who present with urgent, emergent or potential health problems, as well as preventive care and cosmetics. Services provided by the Clinical Office Assistant will include, but are not limited to, general patient care, assistance with procedures, documentation of activities and patient/family education. The Clinical Office Assistant will provide care utilizing established principles and ethical standards as well as policies and procedures established by Deaconess.    This position will have responsibility for learning to prep tissue specimens for Mohs Micrographic Surgery examination utilizing a variety of equipment.  Triage of specimens including proper identification and computer data entry. Assists Histology Technician II in the Mohs lab with accurate set-up of tissue specimens. Operates and services equipment according to manufacturer's recommendation. Processes, embeds, and cuts Mohs tissue specimen.  Performs routine and special stains. Maintains QC and workload data. Sends specialized testing out to reference labs. Maintains archival slide files.  Troubleshoots problems.  

Education and Experience

• Graduation certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program or graduation from an accredited nursing program required.
• Experience preferred but not required. M
• Must be eligible by ASCP as a Histology Technician or Histotechnologist within 18 months. Proof of education (transcripts) required.
