The Oncology Services Pharmacy Manager is a vital leadership position responsible for developing, implementing, and managing oncology programs to optimize medication management and patient care for individuals receiving treatment. This position requires both clinical knowledge and operational management skills to support the delivery of high-quality patient care within the inpatient and ambulatory infusion oncology settings. The manager is responsible for overseeing Pharmacy Oncology services across all Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute locations at Brigham & Women’s Hospital.

Essential Duties of the Role Include
• Plays a pivotal role in optimizing pharmacologic care for inpatients and ambulatory patients undergoing treatment for oncologic/hematologic malignancies.
• The position involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-based, patient centered care, ensuring the safe and effective use of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and supportive care regimens.
• Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with evidence-based protocols, institutional guidelines, and national standards.
• Ensure the safe, accurate, timely, efficient, and fiscally prudent order oversight, preparation, and delivery of antineoplastic (and other supportive) medications to patients.
• Participating in the development and applying strategies to improve antineoplastic utilization across care settings.
• Participating in committees to improve safety, efficacy, and quality of cancer care.
• Participating in the development of policies and implementing programs to ensure the safety of staff and patients during the receipt, preparation, administration, and monitoring of anticancer agents.
• Participating in the management the antineoplastic drug formulary; recommend formulary changes to the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.
• Participating in the development of and quality assurance of Oncology Beacon and Non-Oncology Infusion Therapy plans, including medication record builds in Epic.
• Participating and when required lead Pharmacy Oncology committees and work groups.
• Provides guidance and support to the organization’s Investigational Drug Service related to Oncology services.
• Educate clinicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other staff as needed.


 

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy required or Doctor of Pharmacy required

Licenses and Credentials
Pharmacist [State License] - Generic - HR Only required

Experience
Related Pharmacy management experience 2-3 years required and Related Pharmacy management experience 3-5 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must have excellent verbal, written, and quantitative skills.
- Displays a comprehensive knowledge of department operations.
- Shows knowledge of the pharmacology of drugs and the legal aspects of dispensing.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills to educate and supervise staff, normally acquired after three to five years of related hospital experience in a progressive, large health care organization and through self-directed education.
- Can work accurately and make decisions under stress and with time constraints.
- Strong attention to detail.
