A Brief Overview
The Data Governance Senior Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the data governance and data quality initiatives across the organization. This role ensures that data is managed, maintained, and utilized as a strategic asset, aligning with the company's goals and requirements.

What you will do

  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance and quality strategy.
    • Lead the Data Governance Council(s) and collaborate with key stakeholders to establish data governance policies and standards.
    • Provide leadership and direction to other members of the data governance and quality team and members of the broader Data & Analytics team.
  • Policy Development & Compliance
    • Define and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Ensure compliance with data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee the creation and maintenance of data dictionaries, data catalogs, and metadata management.
  • Data Quality
    • Develop and implement data quality management processes.
    • Monitor and report on data quality metrics and KPIs.
    • Identify and resolve data quality issues and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Work closely with business units, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure data governance and quality initiatives are aligned with business objectives.
    • Promote data governance and quality awareness and best practices across the organization.
    • Foster a culture of data stewardship and accountability within the organization.
    • Communicate data governance and quality goals, progress, and outcomes to senior management.
  • Risk Management
    • Identify data-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure data governance and quality practices support data privacy and security requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, Library & Information Science, Statistics or Mathematics or other relevant fields preferred 

Experience Qualifications

  • Typically 12+ years experience in data governance, data quality, or a related field. 

Skills and Abilities

  • Proven leadership experience in managing data governance and quality programs. (Advanced proficiency)
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and regulatory requirements. (Advanced proficiency)
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. (Advanced proficiency)
  • Experience with data governance and quality tools and technologies. (Advanced proficiency)
  • Experience in a specific industry (e.g., finance, healthcare, HR) with relevant regulatory knowledge. (Intermediate proficiency)
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). (Basic proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification in data governance or data quality (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) is nice to have
