Job Description:

The Senior Director will report into the Executive Director and will be a part of the Hearst Autos Marketing team. The Senior Director of Marketing will lead a team of Marketing Strategists, who will work with a cross-disciplinary group of sellers, campaign strategists, and more, focusing on a group of advertisers to build programs that allow for Hearst Autos to grow revenue and margins, while delivering powerful results for our clients.The ideal candidate has a solid history of exceeding client expectations with a strong understanding of their business needs and can navigate the inner workings of ad and experiential agencies to deliver thoughtful proposals. A background in strategy development is needed and creative thinking and proposal writing experience is a must.

Job Functions:

  • The Senior Director along with the Marketing Strategy professionals reporting to them are responsible for the strategy and development of integrated marketing partnerships and programs that sets Hearst apart in our competitive set. 
  • The Senior Director will partner with editorial teams, helping develop editorial tent poles and programs that deliver upon the needs of our readers and the advertisers. Additionally, together they will work to make sure the brand is clearly articulated through all communication channels, sales materials, program development and more.
  • Candidate must be a proven and accomplished marketing professional with a track record of innovation and a successful record of implementing marketing initiatives that lead to positive results for advertisers and help drive ad revenue across multiple platforms. 
  • Ensure work across all Marketing Strategy professionals meets the high-standards set for the department
  • Train and develop the cross-disciplinary skills of Marketing Strategy professionals reporting
  • Work in tandem with our sales team, understanding their needs to move their business forward
  • Develop marketing opportunities for the automotive industry—RFP responses and proactive pitches—for the three pillars of Hearst Autos —Auto enthusiast media brands, Car and Driver, Road & Track and Autoweek, Hearst lifestyle media brands, and Hearst Autos In-Market, our automotive-shopper-focused publisher network
  • Pro-actively provide innovative marketing and insights solutions to meet client objectives.
  • Create Hearst Autos marketing materials (one sheets, overview decks, etc.) to ensure we have a fresh, relevant, and consistent message

Who You Are:

  • BA/BS in Marketing or a communications-related field
  • 8-10+ years in digital media or marketing experience 
  • Automotive marketing, agency, and events experience preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated success crafting brand and marketing strategy resulting in robust ad sales across multiple platforms including all forms of digital and social media.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Adept in Google and Microsoft Office product suites 
  • Digital media fluency & ad solutions (behavioral targeting, native content and advertising, programmatic and data solutions)
  • Ability to present ideas and lead discussions with groups of all sizes
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization and ability to prioritize 
  • Understanding of media planning and client media approval process
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Adaptable and Flexible

The base salary for this role is between $120,000 to $130,000 annually. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
