Your Role:
The Software Product Owner plays a key role in Miltenyi Biotec’s growing Software Team as a supporting the company’s cutting-edge instrument and analysis software portfolio. This position is responsible for leveraging expertise in agile software project management to deliver software products and/or features in scope, cost, time, and quality to meet the underlying business objectives. This role is a critical interface between project stakeholders and the development team to ensure software features are well defined and implemented in a prioritized manner with appropriate quality assurance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver software project goals (software releases, software features) in scope, cost, time, quality to meet the underlying business objectives.
- Participate in the global software scaled agile process as defined by the organization, which can include:

- Collaborating with stakeholders to define product vision and maintaining project roadmap.
- Defining and refining features and ensuring proper transfer to agile development teams.
- Leading an agile development team, including backlog management and agile ceremonies.
- Participate in resource planning and goal setting for products and features.
- Contribute to the ongoing definition of scaled agile best practices within the organization.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in computer science or a related field; A minimum of 5 years of experience as a professional product owner or in a comparable role, e.g. Software Project or Product Manager; Or a combination of education and experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Agile product development and/or project management experience.
- Experience with agile methodologies and frameworks such as SCRUM or Kanban.
- Exposure to engineering as a design control activity.
- Familiar with the Standard IEC 62304 “Medical device software -- Software life cycle processes”.
- Prior experience in medical device/cell manufacturing industry, biotechnology or another regulated industry is preferred.
- Project Risk Management experience preferred.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner preferred.
- Occasional travel to Germany to align with global software team and project/product stakeholders (2-4 trips per year)

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This job is performed in a temperature-controlled facility without exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures. Generally, this job is performed in a sanitized laboratory setting and routinely uses standard medical and research equipment such as centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, microscopes, incubators, pipettes and computers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to blood, viruses, bacteria, body fluids and other tissues. Employees entering and leaving the laboratory must wear appropriate clothing and protective equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The hiring range for this position is expected to fall between $145,400 - $171,050/year, reflecting the range candidates can reasonably expect to be considered for at time of offer, based on factors such as experience, internal equity, and qualifications.
