The Group Benefits Division is seeking a new leader to drive Priority Business Data (50-500 employees) reporting, insights, and data strategy.  Initially, the position will lead a team to develop a library of business-critical reports and dashboards.   Overtime, the purpose will transition to a hybrid team providing both critical insights and monitoring the operational health of our book of business: uncovering trends that inform our growth strategy.  

The role will be highly visible within Group Benefits, requiring both a mastery of detailed technical analysis and the ability to clearly communicate to higher levels of the organization.  As an expert resource for business segment executives, this leader will create dashboards and monitor trends from quotes to implementation to service: reporting findings to the business owner.  Critical to success will be a strong, trusted relationship between the candidate and Underwriting, Operations, Actuarial and Product business partners, gained by converting data into actionable business insights.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office should maintain their current work arrangement with the expectation of coming into the office as business needs arise.

Responsibilities: 

• Build and maintain a library of trusted business intelligence reports and dashboards.
• Creation/ownership of data strategy for Priority Business segment
• Create/prioritize and maintain a backlog of report/dashboard features
• Deep dive analysis into emerging trends and root cause analysis, explaining results and recommendations 
• Translate data into actionable insights, present results and recommendations to various levels of business leadership.
• Regular participant in Priority business segment meetings
• Organize and balance multiple priorities.
• Lead a team of 4-8 data engineers and performance analytics experts.

Qualifications:

• Experience/Proficiency with BI tools such as Tableau, ThoughtSpot, Power BI is required.
• 7+ years of experience in a data centric role. 
• Familiar with data models, data architecture, and data technology is required.
• Proven experience communicating technical concepts to senior leaders.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships.
• Creative problem solving mindset with a passion for delivering outcomes.
• Strong influencing skills and a collaborative partnership approach are required.
• Experience gathering feedback from multiple areas to drive prioritization/decisions.
• Demonstrable experience translating business objectives into tangible plans, actions and results.
• Familiar with insurance data, Group Benefits preferred.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$132,020 - $198,030
