MSDAbout the role
Job Description
The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research and Development Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.
A summer research intern position is available in the Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics, Metabolism and Bioanalytics (PDMB) function within our Research & Development Division in Boston, Massachusetts. The mission of PDMB at our Research & Development Division is to advance our therapeutic pipeline with cutting-edge analytical and biochemical data, strengthen molecular design and provide mechanistic insights for translational modeling that is integral to the development of safe and effective new medicines, all while developing our people as scientific leaders and technical experts. A key research area for PDMB in Boston is the advancement of our engineered cyclic peptides (eCP) through state-of-the-art bioanalytical techniques and comprehensive preclinical profiling.
This research internship will last up to 12 weeks at our Boston, MA site. The research project will be focused on optimizing the bioanalytical sensitivity of eCPs using innovative sample preparation, high sensitivity and high-resolution mass spectrometry and an automated data analysis workflow. The intern will be guided in the use of state-of-the-art LC-MS/MS approaches to quantify eCPs in biological matrices and subsequently evaluate the resulting exposure-response relationships from in vitro or in vivo studies. In addition, the intern will have the opportunity to engage in scientific discussion and presentations, while developing an understanding of the rapidly evolving field of eCP bioanalysis and its impact on drug discovery and development. The intern will have opportunities to network with key leaders from partner lines across our Research & Development Division and to participate in various events and programs designed for summer interns to explore future career interests within our Research & Development Division.
Key Roles/Responsibilities might include:
Develop and optimize methods utilizing LC-MS/MS instruments.
Analyze and interpret data with automated data processing platforms.
Design and conduct in vivo sample analysis to generate exposure response curves.
Participate in group meetings and present the results of the research project at the end of internship.
Contribute to a publication strategy based on the research.
Education:
Full-time student currently enrolled in a PhD program in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related life science fields
Enrolled full-time in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
Required Skills and Experience:
Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between May and August 2026
Must have basic laboratory skills and research experience with LC-MS/MS
