Job Description

 

Leads and guides team members in the performance of duties. Performs all functions of a Registered Dietitians. May have team member oversight at managers discretion.

Job Responsibility

 

1. Regularly leads, mentors and trains  team members on technical skills.
2.Serves as technical leader on daily tasks  and cases; possesses the most advanced  knowledge of the Nutrition department.
3. Assists team members with more  complicated procedures and tasks. Works on problems of diverse scope and substantial complexity.
4.Makes recommendations to the leadership on process improvement, tools and techniques, or assists in development of new clinical nutrition related services. 
5.Makes decisions regarding daily  priorities for a work group; provides  guidance to and/or assists team  members on non-routine or escalated  issues
6.Supports system management in determining methods and procedures for new tasks.
7.May recommend and coordinate scheduling of work assignments, daily  priorities and directing the work of  team members
8. May provide input into performance  reviews and corrective actions for team  members
9.Performs all duties of a Registered Dietitian. Responsible for accurately and  responsively performing varied and  substantially complex clinical tasks.
10.Assists leadership with changes to the patient’s menu/nutritional analysis and development of standardized recipes. Calculates nutrient content of tube feeding and dietary intakes as ordered by physicians.
11.Prepares, presents, and conducts individual and group education classes, and refers clients to community services, as needed. Participates in and promotes Northwell wellness initiatives.
12.Develops and utilizes effective lines of communication regarding nutrition information within Northwell healthsystem and community.
13.Leades and provides in-services to culinary and food service teams regarding therapeutic diets and related topics.
14.Participates in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement related tasks including data collection while executeing and making recommendations on new processes, tools and tasks related to it, as directed.
15.Assists and audits regulatory compliance.

Job Qualification

 

Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience, required.
Current Registered Dietitian Certification with the Commissions on Dietetic Registration, required.
Certified Dietitian Nutritionist in New York State (CDN), as needed.
Advanced/specialized certifications, as needed.
5-7 years of relevant experience, required.

 Oncology experience, highly preferred.
