About the role

Owner’s Project Management firm is seeking qualified candidates for Assistant Project Manager (APM) positions working on capital projects for institutional clients. This position reports to a Project Manager and is responsible for assisting with all project management activities associated with single large scale new construction projects and/or multiple small to medium size renovation projects. The APM participates as a professional  member of the owner’s project delivery team through the design, construction, and occupancy phases of projects.<br />

The APM’s responsibilities include:<br />
•    Facilitates communications throughout project, particularly during transition from one phase/milestone to the<br />
     next. Helps develop and maintain project schedules and budgets from design through project closeout.<br />
     Communicates to the Senior Project Manager issues affecting project program, quality, budget, scope,<br />
     timeline, or delivery. <br />
•    Attends the weekly owner, architect, construction manager (OAC) meetings to review/discuss construction<br />
     progress and quality. Monitors, systematizes, recommends, and reports on all change proposals and monitors<br />
     impact on project schedules and budgets. Responsible for assisting with project quality control systems. <br />
•    Reviews and coordinates reviews of all submittals to ensure expeditious processing. <br />
•    Arranges and monitors the timely and orderly project closeout activities. Works with consultants and<br />
     operations personnel to prepare a punch-list for the contractor and ensure punch-list items have been<br />
     addressed appropriately. <br />
•    Reviews and makes recommendation for payment of invoices and requisitions for payment<br />
•    Monitors project monthly cash flow projections. Helps prepare budget updates and discusses project budget<br />
      issues with Project Monitor<br />
•    Supports preparation and submission of submissions to jurisdictional authorities for permitting<br />
•    Perform other duties as assigned<br />
<br />
Candidates should have:  <br />
•    Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (engineering, architecture, construction management) related to<br />
      construction, project management or the equivalent required. Graduate degree desirable, but not required. <br />
•    Minimum of 2-3 years helping manage new and/or renovation projects, preferably in a higher education<br />
      setting. <br />
•    On site/field experience on construction sites. <br />
•    Design and construction of LEED certified buildings <br />
•    Excellent communications skills<br />
•    Familiarity with City and State building codes and other applicable requirements<br />
•    Experience analyzing and interpreting design documents<br />
