About the role
Job Description Summary
The Lead Applications Engineer for Electrical Systems and Grid Interface will be part of a multi-discipline Electrical and I&C Systems technical team of dedicated engineers responsible for the deployment of GVH SMR plant technology (e.g. BWRX-300 Standard Plant) across multiple US and international sites, including comprehensive engineering input to the development of new plant proposals, early works agreements and new product offerings. In this position, you will gain and maintain a strong understanding of electrical systems design basis of our standard plant design, along with the underlying plant and system-level requirements, and use that understanding to perform detailed gap analysis on prospective customer site requirements (e.g., codes, standards, regulations, grid requirements, etc.). In addition to gap analysis, you will play a critical role in developing conceptual and preliminary design solutions for the gaps identified. This role will focus on both plant internal electrical power systems as well as external grid connection solutions. Leveraging your subject matter expertise in Electrical Systems design, you will support the development of detailed statements of work for current and subsequent project phases, proposal technical write-ups, engineering estimates, schedule development and risk assessments in support of site selection, site permitting, and construction/operation licensing milestones.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
As a Lead Applications Engineer, you will:
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the design basis for standard plant electrical systems of the BWRX-300 technology.
- Support gap analysis between stand plant electrical systems and site-specific requirements, including regulatory requirements, electrical codes and standards, transmission system and grid interconnection requirements, and local power system reliability requirements.
- Evaluate impacts of site-specific requirements on both plant electrical systems and grid interface/switchyard systems.
- Support integration across multiple engineering disciplines, including architectural engineering, licensing, equipment design, and safety systems.
- Participate in design evolution programs that extend and improve our modularization strategies.

- Familiarity with nuclear electrical codes and standards such as IEEE, NFPA, and other regulatory frameworks
- Familiarity with the interface between plant power systems and utility grid requirements.
- Knowledge of diverse regulatory schemes (e.g., US NRC, CNSC, IAEA, etc.) and grid code requirements (e.g., US regions, Canada, EU, etc.)
- Familiarity with modular solutions and associated interface requirements.
- Ability to be a liaison between organizations that are operating in separate geographic locations
