Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager of Risk, Insurance and Claims to join our team! 

 

The successful candidate will plan, direct and manage: the purchase of insurance programs; claims and loss control activities; risk exposure audits and mitigating solutions. Responsible for relationships with third party insurance related service providers including brokers, underwriters and administrators; preparing and analyzing loss run reports, insurance program budget and allocations; developing and maintaining process controls and guidance tools; training internal stakeholders about insurance programs to ensure compliance and support; and presenting annual updates about the insurance programs to the Board of Directors, Senior Leadership and Officers.

Responsibilities

Risk

The Senior Manager of Risk, Insurance and Claims (Senior Manager) is primarily responsible for the coordination of the loss control audit program and jurisdictional boiler and pressure vessel inspections conducted by the insurance underwriters including monitoring the implementation of risk mitigation strategies by each business unit. Additionally, this Senior Manager is primarily responsible for contractual risk transfer through the review of each contractor, subcontractor, supplier, vendor contractual agreement and the corresponding Certificate of Insurance (COI) to ensure appropriate insurance coverages and limits are in-place prior to the initiation of work. Work to resolve discrepancies with the Supply Chain Category Lead, Business Unit, vendor and/or vendor's insurance agent. The Senior Manager works annually with Leadership to confirm the company s risk appetite to ensure alignment with mitigation strategies and insurance coverages.

 

Insurance

The Senior Manager is primarily responsible for purchase, renewal, endorsements, declarations and oversight of the Trust s insurance portfolio. The insurance portfolio includes, but not limited to; Automobile, Crime, Travel, Fiduciary, Property, Non Owned Aviation, Pollution Liability, Directors and Officers, Workers  Compensation, Excess Liability and Cyber coverage intended to mitigate the overall risk profile of the Trust and all subsidiaries. These efforts include confirming limits for the self-insurance retention and insurance purchased from third party suppliers. The Senior Manager also compares purchased insurance to establishing a captive insurance affiliate at Citizens for potential cost savings for insurance programs such as Cyber and Property. The Senior Manager is primarily responsible for the administration of the Owners Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) for a series of large construction projects including the purchase of proper insurance coverage for all enrolled contractors. Also, monitor and direct OCIP administration functions including project enrollment, claims and loss run reporting, resolution of high value claims, site audits and follow-up action and financial and cost savings reporting. The Senior Manager is primarily responsible for COI Management, surety bond management and environmental closure bonds. Also, researches and analyzes alternative risk solutions to optimize insurance costs and program performance.

 

Claims

The Senior Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring the proper and efficient handling of property damage and automobile claims including investigation, research, determination of liability, resolution, settlement authority, record keeping and loss forecasting estimates. The Senior Manager also assists with recovery of moneys owed to Citizens through the subrogation process by assembling supporting documentation provided by Operations and Billing and Receivables Management; coordinating with Legal and third party collections agencies who pursue these claims through the courts; and tracking claim status. This position currently has no internal direct reports.
