About the role

Position Summary:  The Manufacturing Data Coordinator is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting production data to ensure accurate and efficient manufacturing processes. This role involves gathering data from multiple sources, maintaining comprehensive records, and generating detailed reports to support decision-making processes. It also requires working closely with various departments, including production, quality control, and supply chain, to gather and maintain data that supports continuous improvement and operational excellence.

 

Responsibilities

Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Collect and compile production data from various sources, including machinery, operators, and quality control reports.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of production data entered into databases or spreadsheets.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain databases for tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to manufacturing operations.
  • Implement data validation rules and controls to ensure high-quality data input.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain and update data management systems and software used for production data collection and analysis.
  • Collaborate with IT to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to data management tools.
  • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly production reports to management and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure all data is accurately recorded and archived for future reference and compliance purposes.
  • Monitor real-time production data to identify deviations from established standards or targets.
  • Alert management to any potential issues or trends that could impact production efficiency or product quality.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with production teams to identify opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new data collection methods and technologies.

Quality Assurance:

  • Monitor and report on product quality data, including defect rates and rework instances.
  • Work with quality control teams to investigate and resolve data discrepancies or quality issues.
  • Ensure data integrity by regularly auditing data entry processes and correcting errors as needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Act as a liaison between manufacturing, quality control, supply chain, and other departments to ensure data consistency and accuracy.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide data insights and support decision-making processes.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all data handling and reporting comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and reporting any hazards or incidents.

Training:

  • Assist in training production staff on data collection procedures and best practices.
  • Train staff on the use of data management systems and ensure compliance with data handling procedures.

 

Requirements

Skills/Experience:

  • Previous experience role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in data management software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Access, ERP systems)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

 

Physical Demands

Specific eyesight requirements:

  • Ability to distinguish between colors.
  • Visual acuity to read fine print on documents and screens.
  • Depth perception to operate machinery safely.

Standing and Walking:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Frequent movement within the production area to supervise and assist team members.

Lifting and Carrying:

  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting of heavier items with the assistance of equipment or team members.
