Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compliance-driven professional to join our Quality Control team as a Microbiology Sampling Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for performing environmental and utility monitoring in GMP-regulated cleanrooms and classified areas to support the site's contamination control strategy and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine viable and non-viable environmental monitoring (surface, air, personnel) within ISO-classified cleanrooms using aseptic techniques.
  • Collect utility samples, including purified water, WFI, clean steam, and compressed gases.
  • Accurately document sample collection activities and results per GDP and cGMP requirements.
  • Ensure timely transport of samples to the QC laboratory for analysis.
  • Assist in the investigation of excursions and support the maintenance of the environmental monitoring program.
  • Maintain and prepare sampling materials, equipment, and media according to SOPs.
  • Participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations as needed.
  • Support the training and onboarding of new microbiology sampling staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences or related field 
  • Understanding of microbes, microorganisms, and methods of contamination
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
    Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical or biotechnology industries
  • Environmental Monitoring experience
  • cGMP Experience
  • Experience with LIMS

Important Information

This position is an indoor lab-based position working in biopharmaceutical manufacturing cleanrooms and lab spaces. Position requires significant time spent in ISO 8 cleanrooms with the following restrictions:

  • No cosmetic products or applications (such as makeup, false lashes, spray tans etc) are permitted and must be removed before entry
  • Nails must be kept short, trimmed, and unadorned (no nail polish, rhinestones, etc)
  • No jewelry may be worn (exceptions are medical alert-related and one smooth ring band that can be easily covered by a glove)
  • Hair must be able to be neatly tied back and contained in a hairnet, and all facial hair must be neatly trimmed and able to be secured in a beard cover.

Ability to meet physical demands, including, but not limited to, routinely lifting objects of 25 lbs or more, walking and standing for extended periods, pushing or pulling carts and equipment, and bending down or reaching for supplies.
