REPORTS TO:                                                 Accounting Manager

SUPERVISES:                                                 Staff Accountant I, Staff Accountant II

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Supervise staff, activities, develop and recommend policies and procedures to govern such activities.  Plan and recommend methods for efficient operation and maintenance of the overall integrity of the accounting systems.

 

JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure compliance with regulations, GAAP, and Tribal policy
• Provide periodic reports to Caesars Entertainment Corporation Consolidated Reporting, casino management, corporate management, and Tribe
• Interact with operating departments to provide information and analysis
• Prepare information for external and internal auditors
• Assist the Accounting Manager with daily tasks and reporting requirements 
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
• Review journal entries
• Assist in maintaining accounting system
• Analyze and test payroll system changes and corrections on a timely basis
• Ensure that accounting records are accurate, complete, and prepared on a timely basis.
• Develop and implement new procedures and train personnel on current procedures
• Oversee the preparation and filing of reports; including monthly, quarterly & yearly.  Perform research necessary for financial analysis, budgets and operations as requested
• Train subordinates, providing each with the knowledge, development and appropriate direction to perform his/her responsibilities ensuring they have the necessary information and resources
• Exhibit sound decision-making with emphasis on motivating team and maintaining high morale
• Provide continuous positive coaching for development of employees and appropriate corrective action when necessary
• Perform timely and accurate performance appraisals and accurate work history entries
• Recommend policy and procedure changes
• Participative member of the team by volunteering and being involved in projects, committees, and task forces by providing input and suggestions
• Responsible for, and actively participate in, the initiation of personnel actions including but not limited to: interviews, training, candidate selection, terminations, performance reviews, promotions, transfers and disciplinary actions
• Other duties as required by department
• Adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies/procedures  in an ethical manner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• BSBA degree from an accredited educational institution required in Accounting, or Finance related field 
• CPA or MBA  preferred
• Two years supervisory experience preferred
• Three years’ experience in accounting function, preferable large, computerized firm required
• Must demonstrate the following essential knowledge and skills:
  • Extensive current knowledge of Federal and State tax requirements and payroll regulations
  • Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Knowledge of accounting software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Neat, professional appearance with excellent personal hygiene
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Self-starter; must work without close supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-past environment
