Summary

We are pleased to offer this entry level opportunity for a engineer with experience supporting clients with first fix on electronics and IT at client sites providing on-site technical assistance, configuring and installing a range of POS solution projects for our customers in the Retail & Hospitality sector

Typically you will be dealing with:
New site openings
Refurbishments
Upgrades
Closures and decommissioning equipment. 

This role will require good technical understanding, ideally with experience working with retail or hospitality clients 

You will also need to demonstrate some knowledge of IT hardware and basic network operating systems in order to identify problems affecting client sites and assist in the troubleshooting and repair where possible. 

Working with award-winning hospitality groups across multiple projects at any given time, you will be supported and have close contact with our project managers and key stakeholders at client sites. 

As you will be the visible face of Wanstor at our client sites you will need excellent communication skills, always ensuring you maintain high standards and safety procedures, with the ability to resolve issues and site work quickly and accurately with an eye for detail and maintain a strong customer-focused approach.
 This role requires UK travel to various customer sites. Due to the nature of our work, some evenings, nights, and weekend may be required to ensure timely project completion and customer satisfaction. 

Key Responsibilities

During your career with Wanstor, you will develop the skills to : 
  • Attending customer sites across the region installing POS hardware, networking and infrastructure equipment.  
  • Configure networking devices in line with project requirements including Cisco, Meraki, HP and Fortinet.  
  • Assist project managers providing them with technical knowledge on POS systems from advisory setup to potential risks on the project. 
  • Take ownership of project milestones to drive project completion on time and on budget.  
  • Keep track of all project work progress and maintain company documentation and systems. 
  • Prepare and complete detailed and accurate service reports and update documentation on all projects to PMs and Key Stakeholders. 
  • Participate in meetings with internal teams and customers. 
  • Create operational documentation for project works, supporting user testing and facilitate successful support handover to service desk.  
  • Perform analysis and reviews to highlight system and process improvements to ensure efficiency on service and delivery.   
  • Provide support to the service desk as required on various tickets relating to retail technology including workstations, servers, printers, networks, and vendor specific hardware and software. 
  • Maintain clear communication on all project requests and service desk tickets in a timely manner.  
  • Prioritising and implementing any other such requests of medium to high complexity. 
  • Providing support to other team members as and when required. 


About You

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Field Engineer, ideally working IT technology. 
  • Clean driving licence with a suitable vehicle to travel to and from client sites. 
  • An interest in developing your technical skills and enjoy the challenge of solving complex issues.  
  • Strong organisational and reporting skills in a multi-tasking environment. 
  • Able to prioritise workload, remain calm under pressure and focus on solutions. 
  • Exceptional communications skills with people at all levels and a strong customer-focused approach.  
  • Motivated with an eye for details and a diligent and conscientious approach to your work. 
  • Be proactive, forward thinking, and able to contribute to the success of the wider team
