About the role

The Chief People Officer is responsible for the strategy and processes related to building, to developing, and to retaining world-class talent at SPAN. Reporting directly to the founder and CEO, the CPO will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the executive team to ensure SPAN has the right people, culture, and human resources capabilities to scale from a start-up to a growth-stage company and beyond. Responsibilities will include:

  • Create a people and talent strategy that aligns with our vision, mission, and values throughout the company and drives a high-performance culture.

  • Lead all aspects of the function including talent acquisition, people operations, HR, workplace operations and experience, performance management, compensation & benefits, retention and more.

  • Design a fair, transparent, and competitive compensation and total rewards philosophy that can evolve with SPAN’s needs and that contemplates creative ways to retain and invest in employees

  • Champion diversity & inclusion efforts across the organization - ensure the continued development and buildout of DEI programming initiatives that help us attract and retain exceptional talent and the values they represent

  • Lead strategy and teams responsible for building and maintaining SPAN’s real estate footprint and expansion – proactively seek new opportunities for building teams in talent-rich or beneficial locations

  • Define, develop and deploy a system for ongoing measurement of employee engagement and driving proactive steps to increase employee engagement and retention.

  • Create business-oriented policies and procedures for our HR function that drive clarity and transparency for managers and employees.

  • Provide active guidance and partnership to the Executive Team on human capital strategies and organizational design.

  • Provide HR guidance and leadership on special projects, HR analytics & reporting, talent reviews, training, change management, organizational design, and diversity and inclusion.

  • Scale the amazing company culture to maintain high employee satisfaction and retention rates as well as ensuring the team continues to live and breathe its key values.

  • Serve as a thought partner to  the Executive Team and build a human resources function that helps develop our leaders and furthers employee development and career growth.

About You 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in guiding a competitive, dynamic Recruiting strategy to attract A-talent that build teams for scaled growth.

  • Competence and previous experience developing and retaining talent, strengthening teams across all levels of the organization.

  • Robust understanding of HR systems and workflows, compliance, benefits programs, total rewards, employment regulation, and other relevant subject matter.

  • Demonstrated capability in adapting and innovating HR practices and solutions (onboarding, employee experience/satisfaction, performance management, etc.) and right sizing them to the needs of a fluid, fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization.

  • Experience growing hybrid, geographically-spread workforce and satellite offices that are productive, connected and supported.

  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving and people skills.

 

Bonus Qualifications

  • Public company and/or IPO expertise preferred

  • M&A experience preferred

  • Experience working for a Hardware company

 

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $250,000- $375,000 plus benefits, equity and variable compensation for Sales-related roles. This range represents SPAN’s good faith estimate of competitively-priced salary for the role based on national, real-time industry data from companies of a similar growth stage. This range reflects minimum and maximum new hire salaries for the role across US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and individual factors including relevant skills, experience and education or training. This range correlates to the relative level of the candidate we believe we need for the role and may require an adjustment for candidates of a different level.
