Description:
Works closely with the Administrative Director and Program Coordinator in overseeing the essential day-to-day functions of all performance activities, including Juilliard415 and chamber music. This position involves personnel and rehearsal management, concert operations, budget management, and the orchestra library. and has a key role in the day-to-day operations of the Historical Performance office, offering administrative support for all of the department’s performance, policy, and curricular initiatives. This position interfaces directly with all the constituents of the department, including students, faculty, and guest artists, and with colleagues through Juilliard.

Role Responsibilities:
- Works with the Administrative Director and Program Coordinator to develop and produce all Historical Performance activities.
- Leads and advances projects and initiatives as assigned, working closely with the Administrative Director and stakeholders across the School to successfully manage each project from conception to realization, tracking project budgets and liaising with stakeholders and guest musicians.
- Develops and advances efficient administrative systems and processes within Juilliard Historical Performance.
- Liaises closely with colleagues across the School and partners from external organizations as a representative for Juilliard Historical Performance to respond to requests with diplomacy and efficiency.
- Works closely with Administrative Director and Program Coordinator on administrative tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the office.
- Manages all aspects of operations and personnel for Juilliard415 and chamber ensembles, including but not limited to rosters and seating, hiring of additional players, seating auditions, orchestra rehearsals, staffing plans for rehearsal management, rehearsal orders, and conductor liaison
- With Administrative Director, plans and executes logistic and performance aspects of national and international tours
- Primary responsibility for orchestra library functions, including procurement, preparation, and distribution of parts and scores
- Works closely with Coordinator, Historical Keyboards to manage weekly schedule of tunings and instrument moves
- Manages Historical Performance administrative apprentice and work study students
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the arts, humanities, arts administration, or another related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered as a substitute;
- Keen interest in working in a fast-paced, high-level conservatory environment.
- Strong knowledge and expertise in the wide-ranging and evolving fields of performing arts with a foundation in classical music traditions.
- Experience in and understanding of orchestra library functions

- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Extraordinary attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high-volume environment; willing to work occasional evenings and weekends, and travel in the USA and internationally;
- Ability to work well collaboratively in a team setting
- Computer literacy, including knowledge of MS Office
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing administrative systems and processes
Preferred Background:
- Several years of experience as a performing musician
- Knowledge and advocacy of early music
