Aspire Indiana Health is a nonprofit provider of comprehensive “whole health” services including primary medical care, behavioral health, recovery services and programs addressing the social drivers of health such as housing and employment. Aspire has health centers in four Central Indiana counties serving Hoosiers of all ages and walks of life.

Position Summary

The Medical Director of Addictions, reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, will provide oversight and direction to medical activities throughout the Addictions service line.  This includes medical leadership of the addictions service line at Aspire; informing development of policies and training  to support safe, smooth care processes as well as Aspire’s integrated addictions care philosophy; program level management collaboration at Aspire’s residential treatment settings, and  direct oversight of providers in Mockingbird Hill (MBH) and Progress House’s medical clinics.

Clinical Oversight

 

  • Clinically oversees the medical provider(s) in the FQHC at MBH and Progress House. Includes time to review cases with provider(s). 
  • Reviewing incidents related to sending client to the ED or hospital

 

Cross Disciplinary Collaboration

 

  • Assists MBH team in making decisions regarding admission eligibility if there are questions, i.e. medically stable, multiple past treatment episodes, etc
  • Supports the MBH team in making decisions regarding appropriate level of care transitions, i.e. level 3.1 or 3.5 treatment facility, discharge to another facility, etc.
  • If requested, interfaces with managed care/insurance if challenging a denial
  • Attends team staffing weekly to support cross-disciplinary collaboration on individual client cases

Education/Experience

  • Graduate of a medical school accredited by LCME or COCA and completion of a ACGME accredited residency in a family medicine or internal medicine
  • Demonstrated experience in managing substance use disorder across different levels of acuity
  • Completion of fellowship in addictions strongly preferred 
  • 1+ years of administrative or supervisory experience in a medical department strongly preferred.

Licensure

  • Must be a physician with an active, unrestricted licensed to practice medicine in the State of Indiana
  • Must have a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate and State of Indiana Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)
  • Must meet credentialing requirements of Affiliated Hospitals
  • Must be Board Certified in family medicine or internal medicine.  Board certification in Addiction Medicine is preferred but not required.
