Description:

Unit 3-2 is an inpatient oncology unit specializing in cancer treatment, chemotherapy, and palliative care. Focused training includes CORE EKG, chemotherapy, and oncology nurse education class. Our supportive leadership work alongside staff to mentor, promote teamwork, provide professional development, and encourage us to stay strong! If you are looking for dynamic learning opportunities with complex medical treatments and continual advancements, we are looking for a part-time RN for our unit, rotating 12-hour shifts with an every other weekend commitment.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for collaboration, communication & facilitation of optimal provision of care in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families. 

  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring & evaluation of the patient's plan of care from admission to discharge.

  • Provide quality holistic nursing interventions, med/surge nursing interventions and hands on skills including class II telemetry monitoring and chemotherapy administration, respiratory support, critical thinking and more.

  • Collaborative team approach: SNAP rounding daily with interdisciplinary team including physicians, clinical affiliates, medical social work, care managers, nutrition, Rehab services, spiritual care, and pharmacy.

  • Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice.

  • Ensure a seamless, effective, efficient transition of care across the continuum.

  • Participates in monitoring quality metrics specific to the department & ensure complete & accurate documentation in the patient record.

  • Act as 1) mentor; 2) clinician; 3) educator; 4) consultant/collaborator; and 5) navigator.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure in the State of New York.

  • Baccalaureate Degree in the Science of Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred, according to NYS requirements.

  • One-year Med Surg or Critical Care Experience.

  • *GN’s or RN’s with < 1-year experience should apply to the Graduate Nurse Residency positions.

  • Specialty credentialing & educational degree according to clinical nursing practice specialty area preferred.

  • Maintains all licensures and certifications according to NYS regulations and specialty area requirements.

  • Participates in continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
