About the role

Overview

Installs, modifies, moves, troubleshoots, repairs and dismantles equipment involved in ballistic testing according to requisition documentation, layout plans, blueprints or other drawings | Supports military, commercial and developmental testing on newly installed, modified, repaired and moved ballistics, equipment and/or firearms to ensure that it meets technical specifications | Design and build metal parts tooling, gauges, and fixtures required for ballistics operations.

Major Position Responsibilities

· Assembles, maintains and services equipment for the development of ballistics testing.

· Demonstrates a safe and sound approach to all testing to prevent injuries or erroneous test results.

· After test completion, verifies, reviews, and documents all pertinent data.

· Designs and develops new improved test equipment which will improve the quality and/or accuracy of testing, thus reducing cost.

· Maintains lab by physically removing test items, cleaning all equipment, keeping calibrated instruments current, and organizing supplies.

· Serves as a consultant concerning gun function characteristics and mechanical anomalies.

· May also package and label samples supplied to external customers while staying current with regulations governing handling and shipping of samples.

· Maintain Small Cal Ballistic and Med Cal Test Barrel Inventory

· Uses Intergy to generate requisitions to order test barrel.

· Effectively communicates with customers to identify issues, get budgetary quotes, confirm technical specifications, obtain drawings for the purchase of     measurement and test equipment.

· Troubleshoots and problem solves to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications

  • Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 7-8 years experience or Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/ or Experirence

  • Technical training Preferred
  • Math skills. Mechanical attitude. Problem-solving skills. Small Caliber Ballistic Testing. Med Caliber Ballistic Testing. Knowledge of guns. Ballistic testing components. Cases. Projectiles. Military 5.56, 7.62 and .50 Caliber Automatic Weapons. Drill man barrel port holes. SAAMI and SCAT-P specifications.
