Job Title: Lead QC Analyst
Department: Quality
Reports To: QA/QC Manager
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7am-3:15pm.
Main Function:
The Lead QC Analyst is primarily responsible for analyzing liquid and powder reagents. In addition, the Lead QC Analyst will be trained to analyze products from other areas such as tablets, test strips, and spin and will fill in as needed. This person will serve as a resource to QC Analysts and will use their chemical knowledge and skills to help troubleshoot and problem solve issues. The Lead QC Analyst will manage QC standards, hazardous waste disposal, equipment calibrations, and will be a key player in chemical spill cleanup.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Reagents and Powders
1. Conducts QC testing on all liquid reagents and powders.
2. Provides adjustments to reagent and powder prep technicians.
3. Conducts QC testing on incoming raw materials including chemicals and apparatus.
4. Responsible for preparing QC standards.
5. Trains new department employees.
6. Assists with refilling solvent bottles used in the lab from drums located in the solvent shed.
QA/QC/Safety
1. Responsible for management of QC standards.
2. Manage calibration of laboratory equipment.
3. Complete training to analyze test strips, tablets, and spin disks and fill in to cover absences.
4. Assists QA/QC Manager and QC Analysts with:
a. troubleshooting and problem-solving QC production issues.
b. evaluating and resolving customer complaints.
c. testing incoming raw materials.
d. working on special projects as assigned.
5. Responsible for laboratory hazardous waste disposal.
6. Assists in the clean-up of hazardous material spills.
Miscellaneous:
1. Participates in lean activities, including but not limited to
- Lean training and lean events such as kaizen or a 5-day event.
- 5-S program in the various departments assigned.
- DMAICs. Continuously looks for ways to improve both departments and own individual efficiencies and time management, as well as ways to improve any aspect of the Company’s operations and develops and implements DMAICs accordingly.
Requirements
Qualifications:
· Requires a B.S. degree preferably in chemistry but will accept B.S. in science which included chemistry courses. Master’s degree is a plus.
· Requires at least 2 years of job experience working in a chemical laboratory.
· Must have good computer skills for statistical & data analysis and excellent color perception.
· Must be able to transport up to 40 lbs. and wear a chemical respirator.
· Experience handling/storing/disposing hazardous chemicals.
· Must have demonstrated leadership ability with excellent people skills and communication skills. Must be able to work both independently and as a team.
· Must be able to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work overtime as needed.
Environmental Factors & Physical Demands:
Requires good judgment, good problem solving, communication and math skills as well as good color perception. Position requires walking, standing, sitting, operating a computer, working with chemicals/glassware/lab instruments, transporting up to 40 lbs., and wearing a chemical cartridge respiration when needed.
