A Typical Day

The Security Supervisor is responsible for managing security personnel through the creation of work schedules, assigning of duties, and performance evaluations. This includes conducting shift briefings, ensuring compliance of policies and procedures, and overseeing incident reporting and investigations. The supervisor ensures all security staff are properly trained, conducts refresher training as needed, and manages equipment inventories. The Security Supervisor plays a vital role in fostering staff development, mentoring, and promoting a culture of safety, food security, and company values.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain employee work schedules, timecards, assignments and special details.
  • Maintain discipline and formally evaluate and document the performance of subordinates.
  • Conduct shift briefings and ensure personnel are informed of orders, memos, and directives
  • Perform initial review of prepared incident reports and conduct basic investigation, including the gathering of information and questioning of witnesses.
  • Ensure reports are written and conform to all legal and regulatory requirements 
  • Ensure Security staff personnel are properly trained. Conduct refresher training as needed.
  • Review Daily Activity Reports and complete appropriate logs and records/documents any irregularities. 
  • Perform emergency and alarm response.
  • Perform employee escorts when appropriate
  • Check CCTV and other equipment to make sure they are working properly.
  • Receive/dispatch radio/telephone calls for all security officers. 
  • Perform access control for employees, visitors, contractors and vendors in accordance with HCC policies and procedures. 
  • Conduct key, pass card and equipment inventories/repairs.  
  • Maintain security issued clothing inventory.
  • Coordinate with outside emergency response agencies as required
  • Receive, record and distribute new radio equipment.
  • Develop and mentor professional growth & advancement of department staff.
  • Achieve common business goals through cooperative alignment with all departments.
  • Active participation and ownership in your training and development program and associated activities, classes and events, which will be held before, during, after shifts and during scheduled days off.  
  • Help coach and train teammates and participate in on the job, buddy training.
  • Place high priority on food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing HCC’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures. 
  • Hold self and others accountable to HCC’s food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates. 
  • Participate in food safety and sanitation root cause analysis and improvement activities when required.  
  • Prioritize safety above all other job duties by having a safety first approach at all times. 
  • Report any safety issues, observations, opportunities to your teams and follow up.  
  • Participate in departmental safety teams.

What You Will Need

  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English.
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in law enforcement and/or corporate security
  • Possession of a valid State of California guard card. (If employed in CA) or a valid non-commissioned security license (if employed in TX) within 60 days of hire.
  • Valid driver license and a copy of insurance card or copy of declaration page which meets minimum insurance coverage limits within 30 days of hire. 
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays and rotating shifts.
  • Must obtain CPR & First Aid Certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
