Position Summary
Material Handlers with CEC have the unique opportunity to be part of changing the status quo. Successful Material Handlers will leverage our practices to enhance job site logistics in creating unique and innovative opportunities to make a difference in the future of the construction industry. Material Handlers are responsible for supporting the effective and efficient movement of all material and tools on and around CEC facilities and construction job sites. The variety of our work requires our team to be industry-leading problem solvers with solid planning and troubleshooting skills. This is a safety-sensitive position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in conducting Cycle Counting to ensure inventory accuracy
- Drive company vehicles as qualified and required.
- Prepare order requests for the job sites, assist with loading and unloading trucks.
- Sort cargo during loading or unloading process and mark containers with identifying information.
- Stock/pick, log, clean, maintain tools as necessary.
- Processes various paperwork (i.e., packing slips, tool transfers.)
- Tracks maintenance, and repair of site vehicles. Inform the site Supervisor of any repair and/or maintenance needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and 5s principles within the site laydown yard.
- Able to take direction from Site Logistics leadership to perform tasks with operational impact.
- Have and maintain a valid Forklift certification. (CEC Training Available)
- Communicate professionally with management, coworkers, and customers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.
Qualifications
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Requires basic math (counting) skills
- English reading, writing, and comprehension skills
- Must be able to work occasional overtime as required
Education and Experience
- Experience in construction job sites is a plus.
- Current Driver’s License and must have reliable transportation.
- High School Graduate, GED or equivalent.

This position also requires work at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switchgear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space, or attic, in confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces; works on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches and excavations; works in and around single and multi-story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.
