About the role
Description
Engineering Technician I is a position for utility mapping of existing and new infrastructure. Performs assignments designed to develop electric and gas infrastructure knowledge and drawing abilities. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections.
Requirements
Position requirements include:
- In conjunction with Project Engineer or Project Manager, determines design criteria, compiles data, designs various facets of project for construction, and maintains reference material for design.
- Performs non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
- Performs design calculations, prepares material and equipment specifications, and provides preliminary sketches and notes for drawings.
- Completes detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specification, and written and verbal instructions using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Performs duties in accordance with project budgets and company policies and procedures.
- Must be capable of self-checking routine assignments.
- Perform basic functions of Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Must interface well with employees and customers at all levels.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
An associate degree from a university or technical college is preferred.
Zero to three years of CAD or engineering technician experience.
