Principal Project Engineer / Electrical - Space Systems/LEO (Onsite)

Our Space Systems business unit within Collins provides life support and thermal management systems including comprehensive integrated Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) solutions for NASA, government, and commercial customers. Collins Aerospace is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join us as an Electrical Project Engineer in the Space Station / Depot Repair - MRO organization managing hardware in the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) value stream. The candidate should have a strong background in electronics manufacturing, cost and scheduling, as well as EEE components procurements and qualification testing and be able to lead Engineering Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) for design and development activities, support verification planning and closeout activities, and support hardware at our suppliers and on the assembly floor. This position will require the candidate to have project engineering experience that includes support of hardware dispositioning non-conforming material in SAP, responding to Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs), leading failure investigations to determine root cause and corrective action, managing Engineering Changes, and providing Engineering support during customer and supplier meetings. This position will take direction from the respective Depot Repair/MRO Chief Engineer(s) and the respective Value Stream Leader (VSL) to support schedule, budget and deliverables and will require the candidate to be on-site.
What You Will Do:
- Work autonomously with limited oversight from manager
- Work collaboratively with the Program Chief, other Engineering disciplines, Value Stream Lead (VSL), Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to meet schedule, cost, and technical requirements
- Coordinate and lead multi-discipline technical teams
- Facilitate Project Engineering tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives.
- Drive world class Project Engineering process using integrated scheduling, earned value management, and risk and opportunity management.
- Work with other disciplines to respond to SRIs
- Determine disposition and rationale for Quality Notifications (QNs) in SAP
- Initiate Engineering Changes in Windchill and drive to closure
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions
- Track team’s integrated execution performance to plan
- Analyze, identify, and address execution problems, recommend and implement resolutions to ensure the successful completion of projects
- Forecast project revenues, monitor costs, and re-estimate project costs monthly to maximize project profitability and ensure business objectives are met (CAM experience)
- Maintain and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s) to track progress and ensure that established targets are met
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts for project execution efficiency.
