JOB SUMMARY: The Student Success Center (SSC) is a vital youth and adult-staffed hub dedicated to creating a college and career-going culture within the high school campus and empowering students with the knowledge, preparation, and guidance needed for post-secondary success. By offering comprehensive counseling and resources, the SSC ensures all students can achieve their educational aspirations.
Empower first-generation students to achieve their college and career aspirations! Based in the Taft Educational Campus, this full-time college and career counselor under the direction of the Student Success Center Director. will be responsible for:
Job Duties include but not limited to:
- College and Career Counseling:
- Operate a full-service college and career advising office for students and families (including one-to-one college advising)
- Organize and facilitate college fairs, post-secondary awareness workshops, college trips, family nights, and collaborative events.
- Maintain and disseminate information about standardized tests such as SAT/Subject Tests, ACT, and PSAT.
- Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change
- Program Development & Implementation:
- Lead the development and implementation of a coordinated, multi-year program that includes individual counseling, group workshops and leadership training to enhance college awareness, access and success of high-school students
- Stay current with trends and best practices in college access, standardized testing, and career exploration.
- Team Supervision & Collaboration:
- Supervise and coach 2-3 youth leaders and a college bridge coach, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Collaborate with other school-based college and career counselors, school administrators, and staff on an ongoing basis to ensure program participation and success.
- Attend and represent the program at relevant school meetings, events
- Maintain and build partnerships with diverse educational institutions and organizations
- Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of student engagement, progress toward educational goals, and program outcomes to inform continuous improvement
- Utilize Salesforce and DOE databases to generate reports for program director.
- Other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the organization.
