Job Description:

The Sr. Training Developer serves as the instructional development specialist of redaction services to a large array of GDIT subcontractor staff performing this function. The role focuses on instructional material development to educate our staff on the business rules and redaction tools to perform this function for VBA. The candidate will work closely with the FOIA/PA technical tools staff and FOIA/PA subject matter experts (SMEs) to craft training material and courses for instructional delivery. As the redaction tool matures with each release, training material updates and instructional refreshers will be a constant.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Designs and develops curriculum and course materials for participants and facilitators including instruction, exercises, evaluations, activities, job aids and all other required materials, in accordance with VBA FOIA/PA business requirements.

  • Interacts with FOIA/PA subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy of instructional content.

  • Evaluates materials during development for instructional alignment and appropriate styles and specifications for audience comprehension.

  • Audits training classes at subcontractor sites based on a training schedule. Travel is required to conduct these on-site training classes at subcontractor facilities.

  • Uses professional judgement to ingest VBA quality standards into the FOIA/PA redaction instructional material development.

  • Maintains current knowledge of UCAP FOIA/PA technology, functionality and capabilities

  • Conduct organizational readiness assessments to identify impacts, risks, and stakeholder concerns to train a large subcontractor staff.

  • Establish feedback mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of training / instructional material and make iterative improvements.

  • Apply instructional design methodologies to all training materials being developed.

  • Build and maintain productive relationships across internal teams, external partners, and executive leadership.

  • Participate in cross-functional FOIA/PA working groups to address service delivery challenges and improve inter-agency coordination

What You'll Need (required):

  • BA/BS degrees (work experience will be considered in lieu of degree)

  • 5+ years of progressive training delivery experience

  • 3+ years of experience preparing training / instructional delivery for in-person classroom experience

  • Expertise in process improvement, technology adoption, and stakeholder engagement strategies.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to business leaders

  • Must be able to obtain a Veterans Affairs Public Trust and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting.

    RealID, non-expired passport or military ID is also required for this process.
