Position Title: The Shop 1500 Student Assistant


Department: Taylor Center of Equity and Inclusion


Reports To: Director of the Taylor Center of Equity and Inclusion


Classification: Student Employee Non-Exempt FTE


Essential Job Duties: The Shop 1500 Assistant Manager (position held by a sophomore or
junior) is a year- round position, during the academic year, responsible for supporting the
manager’s oversight of the shop’s daily business operations.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Oversee operations of The Shop 1500
    1. Monitor shop supplies and communicate needs to the Director of the Taylor Center of Equity and Inclusion.
    2. Assure The Shop 1500 is clean, organized, and held to the highest standards.
    3. Advise the shop manager of any needs of the shop and possible ways to be more
      efficient.
    4. Assist the manager in developing marketing strategies to help promote a healthy business
      model.
    5. Support the manager in the daily operations of the Shop 1500.
  2. Help other Shop 1500 student work staff
    1. Assist with the essential operating functions of The Shop 1500.
    2. Assist with the hiring of new staff
    3. Communicate any concerns to the Director of the Taylor Center of Equity and Inclusion
  3. Working with outside vendors
    1. Research and recommend Barbers to support The Shop 1500
    2. Work with the vendors to identify problems and communicate those to the Director of the Taylor Center of Equity and Inclusion
    3. Monitor the schedule of the vendors to provide excellent service for the St. Olaf Community.

 

Wage Range: $11.75-12.75
