Per course adjunct faculty in the Counseling Department for the Forensic Psychology program's course, FPSY 677-01.

Qualifications

Mon/ Thurs 4:15-7pm 5/28/-7/5/2024   Course Description

The aim of this class is to explore the evidence-based practice known as Motivational Interviewing (MI) and its “cousin” the Transtheoretical Theory of Change Model (TTM), also known as the Stages of Change. These new ideas & practices help clinicians to shift from the old problem-centered disease model interventions of treating substance use disorders and behavioral disorders of clients/consumers to ones based in science. These evidence-based practices (EBPs), such as MI, serve as a place of origin when designing interventions - with clients and consumers, not for them.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of trauma and its impacts to individuals, families and children. Familiarity and expertise with CBT in therapeutic settings, administered to families, and to individuals, and an awareness of family structure and its impact and influence in response to trauma.  LMFT, LFCC, Ph.D., Ed.D, Psy.D

A demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, multicultural/international competence, social justice, clinical expertise, and familiarity with counseling theory and practice.

1. Seniority of those who have taught the course previously up to their average.

2. Seniority of those who have not taught the course up to their average.

3. Seniority rotation above their average up to seven (7) course values.

Candidates must perform all course-related work within the State of California.

Salary: $6,480 - $10,008 dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.

 If the course is not assigned to a current qualified adjunct faculty member under the process above, it may be assigned to a new hire after the 14 day period for current adjunct faculty members to apply has elapsed.
