Scheduled Hours
40Position Summary
Work schedule and shifts: Inpatient work across Vascular, General Surgery, Colon-Rectal, and Hepatobiliary-Pancreatic Surgery. Will work four 10 hour day shifts per week with rotating weekend shifts and holidays.Bonus and incentive programs: Additional compensation for working weekend and holiday hours.
Clinic overview: No clinic will occur all in patient work.
Team structure and interactions: In collaboration with supervising physicians, provides comprehensive inpatient medical care to patients. The advanced practice provider is responsible for diagnosis, treatment, and management of the patient’s acute or chronic healthcare problems.
Day-in-the-life snapshot: Provides direct patient care to include obtaining patient history, performing patient assessment via observation, interview and examination; orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies; performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care; provides direct treatment and management of acute and chronic disease conditions; develops and implements patient-centered plan of care in collaboration with physicians, patients, consultants, nurses, ancillary care providers, and others as appropriate to the patient’s condition.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs physical assessments/examinations.
- Assesses and counsels patients and obtains medical histories.
- Monitors patient's adherence to protocols.
- Coordinates screening for research studies.
- Collects and records data per research requirements and guidelines.
- Develops and implements adherence plans used with protocols.
- Bills for professional services as permitted by the collaborative practice agreement.
- Interprets diagnostic tests results for deviations from normal.
- Prescribes therapy or medication with physician approval.
- Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram and laboratory test.
- Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care and infection management.
- Provides physicians with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshops.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objective, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
