Internship Overview:

Are you a motivated student looking to break into the financial services and insurance industry? SPG Life and Annuity’s Internal Life Sales Support Internship is your opportunity to gain real, hands-on experience at a nationally recognized insurance brokerage firm. You will work alongside our Internal Sales Specialists and External Wholesalers, learning the fundamentals of life insurance sales support, case design, and client service in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

SPG Life and Annuity is a wholesale Life, Annuity, and LTCi Distribution Company — our clients are insurance professionals, financial advisors, and financial institutions. As an intern, you will develop foundational knowledge of the life insurance industry, including products, carriers, and the regulatory environment, while building professional skills that will serve you throughout your career.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the Internal Sales team by preparing illustrations, sales concept materials, and product education resources

  • Assist with case design research and help identify product solutions that align with client needs

  • Help coordinate communication between internal departments, external wholesalers, and producers

  • Respond to basic producer and client inquiries in a timely manner with guidance from your supervisor

  • Log and update sales activity in our CRM system (Salesforce or similar), tracking opportunities and next steps

  • Maintain and organize reference materials, product lists, carrier contacts, and producer information

  • Participate in sales campaigns and internal initiatives to support business growth

  • Shadow Internal Sales Specialists and External Wholesalers on client calls and meetings

  • Attend team meetings, training sessions, and BSMG client events as available

  • Complete a defined intern project and present findings or recommendations to leadership at the end of the summer

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Marketing, or a related field (rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior preferred)

  • Strong interest in financial services, insurance, or sales — no prior experience required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to listen actively and explain ideas clearly

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

  • Collaborative team player who enjoys working with others to achieve shared goals

  • Customer-first mindset with a desire to add value and exceed expectations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with CRM tools is a plus

  • High ethical standards and a commitment to doing the right thing for the client

What You’ll Learn:

  • Fundamentals of the life insurance, annuity, and LTCi industry

  • How a wholesale brokerage general agency (BGA) operates and supports independent advisors

  • The life insurance sales process from producer inquiry through case placement

  • How to navigate carrier products, underwriting considerations, and case design strategies

  • Best practices for CRM usage, sales tracking, and client communication

  • Professional skills in a collaborative, fast-paced financial services environment

Schedule:

This is a paid, full-time summer internship. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexible scheduling may be considered for students with academic obligations.
