Research Associate, Analytical Development

The Role:
We seek a motivated individual with experience in a microbiology laboratory setting to support microbial testing in Technical Development.  Candidates should have experience with various microbial techniques such as aseptic sample handling, filtration and pipetting.  In this laboratory-based role, the Research Associate will be responsible for supporting daily laboratory operations and following microbiology test protocols for analysis of in-process and final product bioburden and endotoxin release testing of development samples (DNA plasmid, protein, mRNA, and LNP sample types).  In addition, the Candidate would contribute to method optimization, testing in support of rapid microbiological method qualifications and maintain the microbiology laboratory and equipment.  

Here’s What You’ll Do:

• Be a microbiology sample testing team member

• Operate and maintain microbial testing equipment such as filtration pumps, BSCs, plate readers and specialty equipment.

• Prepare samples, execute analytical testing, perform data analysis and report out results with rapid turnaround time

• Perform peer data review and interpret results

• Understand basic method and laboratory equipment troubleshooting

• Aid in development of microbial methods

• Support alternative microbiological test methods development and validation

• Support improvement projects to strengthen overall lab competencies

• Be accountable for good documentation of experiments

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

• A BS with a focus on microbial sciences or 2-5 years of relevant microbiology industry experience

• Experience or familiarity with executing bioburden (USP <61>) test method is preferred.

• Sterility testing (USP <71>) and endotoxin testing (USP <85>) experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with microbiology methods, equipment, and systems as well as general laboratory equipment

• Excellent laboratory house-keeping practices; good documentation practices
