Position Overview

This position provides engineering assistance to the Resident Engineer in the layout, inspection and documentation of highway construction projects.

Essential Functions

  • Provides accurate and efficient measurements and construction staking as a member of the survey crew.
  • Keeps accurate and legible records of inspection field measurements and documentation of contracts.
  • Keeps the Resident Engineer informed on status of and problems with contractor's work.
  • Maintains records as directed by the Resident Engineer.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum OR two years of engineering experience.
