Caper.ai is a subsidiary of Instacart and an AI company. It leverages cutting-edge AI and computer vision technology to bring the autonomous shopping experience to in-store.

Its product, the Caper Cart - an AI-powered smart cart equipped with scales, sensors, touchscreens, and computer vision technology, is the cornerstone of the Instacart Platform Connected Stores initiative.

Caper builds smart shopping carts powered by deep learning and computer vision to enable a seamless grab-and-go retail experience. Caper’s unique technology is a plug-and-play solution that does not require retail store renovation, operational overhaul, heavy computing, and endless image labeling & training. Retailers purchase intelligent shopping carts, and the entire store is upgraded with cashier-less capabilities!

About the Job

​​Head of Expansion role in Caper maximizes Caper product footprint on a global scale. It works closely with cross-functional partners to surface user needs, prioritize, test, launch, and iterate on products. 

You will:

  • Responsible for expansion, deployments, and upgrades in US, Toronto, and EU countries.
  • Strategize, plan, and execute expansion and be ultimately responsible for hitting our growth target
  • Maintain regular communications with key team members across the org, no team is an outsider for you and you will ensure seamless communication with Product Management, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Tax, Accounting, Marketing, Design, Data Science and other partner teams
  • Define innovative operating structures and process improvements
  • Ensure functional partners are aligned on key objectives for the program/product and advise on the global feasibility of products throughout the product life cycle
  • Track core business metrics related to the product suite and iterate on product/business improvement plans
  • Accountable for full lifecycle management: engage, demo, pilot, scale and maintain and upgrade
  • Drive operational excellence: reduce store deployment time, shorten the time from pilot to scale, reduce maintenance cost, and demonstrate operational gains and metrics to retailer customers 

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Program/Product management experience delivering highly successful and innovative products background in Engineering, Operations, and/or MBA
  • 3+ years of experience hiring, managing, and developing individual contributors
  • User/Customer advocate - You deeply care about your end-users and customers, love experiencing your product, and relentlessly innovate for them
  • Demonstrated Experience - Proven experience in product management, Program Management, Operations, Strategic Planning, or related fields
  • Unrelenting Drive - Think about the "how" while focusing on the “why” to navigate the complexities at scale. You are passionate about creating a seamless user experience and unwilling to allow product challenges to impact users negatively
  • Data Driven - You seek out to use data to align teams and drive strategic decisions. You always get the data you need and distill it into insightful stories
  • Cross-functional leadership - You can influence and motivate people at all levels across a variet
