Position Overview:  

Reporting to the Executive Director, Diligent Institute, the Director of Board & C-Suite Programs is responsible for developing and nurturing programs that build relationships with corporate directors, general counsels, corporate secretaries, C-level executives and other governance professionals (including current Diligent users and non-users). The Director of Board & C-Suite Programs will create and execute a global director strategy designed primarily to position Diligent as a trusted governance partner and thought leader amongst this elite group of directors and executives to drive brand awareness and loyalty while also supporting our customer journey through customer referrals and increased adoption of Diligent’s products and services. The Director will be responsible for leading in-person and virtual activities to engage this highly selective audience and will establish and manage a Director Advisory Board to help inform Diligent’s product, marketing, customer success, and educational and media content strategies.   

Key Responsibilities  

  • Designing and executing on a regular cadence of in-person and virtual programs and events designed for board directors and c-suite leaders in partnership with the marketing team   
  • Overseeing Diligent’s Director Advisory Board, including maintaining membership, overseeing meeting and communications, and building connections and sharing insights back to Diligent teams  
  • Recruiting and cultivating relationships with directors, general counsels, corporate secretaries and other relevant governance professionals, and C-suite leaders and working with Diligent team on recruiting for attendance at events and other engagements  
  • Facilitating product feedback/engagement with product and other Diligent teams  
  • Establishing partnership with relevant law firms, recruitment firms, consulting firms, etc., including securing paid sponsorships  
  • Conduct ongoing director research to gain a better understanding of their workflow, pain points and needs  
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with global Director Associations that will help further Diligent’s mission  
  • Serving as the voice and advocate for directors, general counsels and governance professionals, and C-suite leaders at Diligent. 

Required Experience/Skills  

  • Outstanding communication and networking skills, and a demonstrated track record of making meaningful connections with Fortune 250 corporate directors, C-suite executives, or similarly high-profile individuals and organizations 
  • 5+ years of experience developing and running programs/events/meetings for high profile audiences, preferably for corporate directors and C-suite executives 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience cultivating and managing corporate partnerships/sponsorships or other relationships with influential individuals and organizations 
  • Exceptional coordination and execution skills and a fanatical attention to detail 
  • High ethical standards – for example, being rigorous about how sensitive information is handled, keeping confidential information private 
  • Highly self-motivated while also disciplined about keeping team and supervisor informed of progress, calling out any obstacles in the way, and proactively articulating what you need to be successful in the role
