Assistant Manager/Mgr/Senior Mgr (Maritime Technology Capabilty) (2-Yr Contract)

At MPA, Innovation, Technology & Talent Development (ITTD) Division focuses on catalysing the transformation of the maritime industry, through the development of a vibrant innovation ecosystem with strong technological capabilities, building new or growing enterprise capabilities that is supported by an agile and competent workforce equipped with a global mind-set.

Specifically, we are expanding our dynamic team to grow Singapore as The Leading Global Maritime Technology Hub. Reporting to Deputy Director, you will be involved in the transformation work at the Maritime Technology Capability (MTC) department, with the mission to grow and entrench key maritime technology enterprises and industry capabilities.

[What you will be working on]
Key roles and responsibilities include: 

a.    Develop and execute national and ecosystem level strategies to improve Singapore’s competitiveness for smart and autonomous shipping. 
b.    Work closely with research institutions, key companies, teams in MPA and industry partners to conceptualise and execute impactful programmes to attract and entrench key maritime technology capabilities in Singapore.   
c.    Grow technology/R&D partnerships and networks with leading global maritime clusters and organisations.
d.    Lead value chain studies, technology scan and provide recommendations on strategies and action plans.
e.    Organise outreach events and communication channels.
f.    Work with relevant agencies and R&D organisations on joint innovation initiatives
g.    Evaluate and secure funding for technical proposals seeking grants and other forms of support.
h.    Project manage maritime innovation and technology projects

[What we are looking for]

a.    Relevant training and industry experience in science and engineering, R&D and technology, maritime, shipping and port, and/or intellectual property. 

b.    Relevant work experience in managing maritime innovation and technology projects. Candidates with no prior experience may also apply.

c.    Knowledge in ship and port autonomy, AI applications for maritime, data and video analytics will have an added advantage. 

d.    Be an effective communicator and presenter, competent in both spoken and written English, and able to deal with ambiguity and complexity.

e.    Possess strong people skills, design thinking skill, and a passion for technology and innovation, meeting people and selling ideas.
