Job Description

NBC NEWS is looking for an experienced Producer for Early Today

This is an overnight shift position, 10pm-6am

Responsibilities:

• Pitch story ideas
• Research, shape, write and produce news with speed and accuracy
• Take part in editorial planning
• Determine most compelling video and sound for news/feature assignments
• Coordinate with senior broadcast producer, line producer and control room
• Demonstrate mastery in open, tease and promo writing
• Prepare anchors and correspondents ahead of guest segments
• Be in control room during airing of live segment
• Communicate with correspondents and producers in the bureau and in the field

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of current events, politics, and pop culture
• Strong research and reporting skills
• 6 years of experience in broadcast journalism and live news broadcast
• Command of AP style and broadcast writing
• Possess ability to develop story ideas, research, and plan segments
• Edit room experience and breaking news experience is preferred
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple assignments for regular programming and breaking news

Desired Qualifications:

• Eager, cooperative, energetic, team-oriented
• Conversational writing skills, balance news and feature content to build engaging and relatable content
• Familiar with Video SEO techniques
• Automated control room experience
• Knowledgeable of best social media platforms for video distro
• Copyediting experience
• Serve as backup Line/Senior Producer
