Job Description
Great Basin College (GBC) is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program and Clinical Coordinator/ Nursing instructor. This full-time, 12-month administrative faculty position offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of healthcare professionals, while playing a key role in advancing CNA programming and supporting nursing education in the School of Health Sciences and Behavioral Health.
This role serves as the primary coordinator for GBC’s Certified Nursing Assistant Program, ensuring full compliance with the Nevada State Board of Nursing (NSBN) standards and clinical coordination and compliance for CNA education. In addition, the position includes CNA course instruction, CNA competency examination evaluation, and nursing clinical and laboratory instruction.
This position reports to the Director of Nursing, and plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality education experiences. The ideal candidate is organized, student-focused, and passionate about advancing healthcare education in rural communities
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing with at least three years of nursing experience, OR Master’s degree in nursing (preferred). Degree must be from an ACEN, CNEA, or CCNE accredited program as well as a regionally accredited institution.
Current or eligible licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada
Current Nevada State Board of Nursing CNA Instructor Trainer Certification or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire.
At least one year of experience caring for elderly or chronically ill patients (Nevada State Board of Nursing CNA Instructor Certification requirement).
Recent experience in medical/surgical, long-term care, acute care, or community health nursing preferred
Strong organizational and project management skills
Excellence with written and verbal communication
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and supportively with students, colleagues, and clinical partners
Responsibilities:
Coordinate all aspects of the CNA program, including scheduling, recruitment, and instruction support.
Ensure compliance with Nevada State Board of Nursing CNA regulations and curriculum standards
Oversee and serve as an evaluator for the Nursing Assistant Competency Examination process as set forth by the Nevada State Board of Nursing
Support and mentor CNA instructional faculty, including assisting with hiring part-time CNA instructors for program consistency and growth and teaching CNA Instructor Training courses as needed
Teach CNA courses in online, skills laboratory, and clinical settings, and provide clinical and laboratory instruction within the AAS Nursing Program.
Ensure CNA student compliance with clinical requirements and documentation
Collaborate with clinical sites, HR departments, and administrators for student clinical placement
