The Role:
The Senior Scientist will play a crucial role in our research and development team, focusing on the innovation and optimization of food ingredients and bioprocessing techniques. This position requires a blend of expertise in protein chemistry, analytical chemistry and a comprehensive understanding of process development within the food industry.
What you'll accomplish
- Design and execute experiments for identification, characterization, and quantification of proteins, carbohydrates and bioactive small molecules in fermentation products and during processes, leveraging advanced analytical, biochemical and physical tools.
- Provide technical expertise to build relationship between product performance such as flavor, color, texture to the molecular structures of ingredients and any potential byproducts
- Apply chemistry methodologies and principles to assist in process development of new food ingredients, to achieve product quality, consistency, and sustainability
- Conduct rigorous data analysis and present findings to stakeholders, providing actionable insights for product and process improvements
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements, ensuring our processes and products meet the highest standards.
- Mentor junior scientists and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
What you bring (required)
- PhD in Chemistry or a closely related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant research or development experience in ingredient manufacturing industries, preferably in food ingredient industry
- Proven expertise in identification, characterization and quantification of biopolymers and small molecules, with a strong and extensive hands-on experience in chromatography, electrophoresis, mass spectrometry and spectroscopic techniques
- Experience participating in food ingredient process development to optimize quality attributes such as organoleptic and textural functions, including fermentation, purification and drying
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, demonstration of strong multi-tasking capabilities, manage timelines in a fast paced environment, flexibility with shifting priorities, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, an executor and a get-things-done mindset
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Pay Range: $115,000 - $143,000
At EVERY™ pay ranges are subject to change and assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
