Department Overview 

 

Electric Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Engineering is responsible for resilient and reliable design and technology development for transmission, substation, and distribution system.

 

 

Position Summary

 

The Senior Director, System Performance, Reliability & Resilience Strategy is responsible for setting and executing the reliability and resilience strategy for PG&E. The Senior Director oversees five functional areas consisting of analysis and reporting, programmatic reliability improvements, proactive equipment failure identification via predictive analytics, expansion and utilization of operational technology for improved system monitoring, and development of long-term strategy to enhance reliability & resilience on the PG&E system. The Senior Director partners with engineering and operations leaders across PG&E to execute short and long-term initiatives to drive company’s reliability performance. 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location at OGO, in Oakland, California.

 

 

Reporting Relationship

 

This position reports to Shay Bahramirad, Vice President, Electric T&D Engineering.

 

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Manages multiple analytical programs (system performance, loss control, quantitative enterprise and operational risk management and transmission system risk management) for the purposes of facilitating effective risk management for the organization.
  • Leads company-wide quantitative enterprise system performance and risk and operational management program designed to deliver risk informed, data driven decision making and ultimately measurable risk reduction for the enterprise overall.
  • Establishes and manages the frameworks, models, and governance forums for line of business risk owners to measure reliability risk and resilience risk reduction, in alignment with enterprise risk management objectives with investment planning decisions, develops quality metrics, evaluates the effectiveness of mitigation plans, and reports to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Triennially, leads the development of two risk-related rate case proceedings (Safety Model Assessment Proceeding and Risk Assessment Mitigation Phase) and incorporates into General Rate Case filings.
  • Builds and maintains relationships across multiple stakeholder groups, including all internal LOB’s, California Investor Owned Utilities, intervenors, academics and commission staff.
  • Serves as company spokesperson and advocate for reliability and resilience, FERC and NERC related items at the California Public Utility Commission and in the industry more broadly through participation in senior leadership industry forums and service on panels on risk management topics.
  • Establishes and oversees Third Party Risk Management program designed to mitigate reliability and resilience risk as strategic risk.
