The Operations Excellence team is looking for a Technical Writer to partner with internal collaborators across Cruise to be responsible for the creation and maintenance of documentation for the Operations team. Ops Excellence is the team within Operations focused on the building and improvement of processes and communicating all relevant operational changes. In this position, you will be a key member of a fast-paced team as we design best-in-class processes to launch a fully driverless fleet. We're looking for adaptable, optimization-focused people who are excited by the idea of working on groundbreaking mobility technology!

What you’ll be doing:

  • Counsel on, plan, draft, and maintain various documentation targeted towards technical and non-technical Operations teams. Documents will include SOPs, policies, work instructions, handbooks, manuals, in-application procedures, standards, etc.
  • Partner and establish relationships with team members from engineering, product ops, service and technical ops, frontline operators, hardware, software, fleet, and project management (among others) to create ops documentation to enable teams to function consistently and efficiently
  • Work closely with teammates responsible for document management, change control, safety, and training to lead doc updates and assist with communicating changes to appropriate teams
  • Identify and orchestrate process improvements for document/content creation
  • Conduct outreach to ops teams regarding gaps or inefficiencies in documentation
  • Support updates to various Cruise content platforms, like Cruise’s internal wiki

 

What you must have:

  • Experience in a technical writing role focused on advanced technology, operations, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or transportation
  • BA/BS or equivalent years of experience
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to writing clear, concise, approachable, and accessible content
  • An ability to convey complex or highly technical information into documentation for non-technical audiences
  • Excellent content and time leadership skills, with the ability to meet tight and/or shifting timelines. Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Ability to identify your own priorities and flexibility to adjust when needed
  • High proficiency in G-suite applications and ability to learn new tools quickly

 

Bonus points!

  • Experience Document and Content Management Systems
  • Experience with Jira/other Atlassian products
  • Experience with Confluence wiki products
  • Previous experience as a technical writer in the autonomous transportation industry
  • Certifications or other formal technical writing education
  • Advanced degree in related field

 

The salary range for this position is $115,600 - 170,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
