Job Description

The Managing Principal, Manufacturing Center of Excellence (COE) is a technical solutions leader, focused on leveraging technology in manufacturing to transform business processes, improve visibility, enable the workforce, and improve operational agility, quality, and productivity. The Manufacturing COE leader will work across the business units and plants to identify and prioritize needs and collaborate to develop solutions. The COE leader will lead the digital transformation effort for manufacturing operations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of subject matter experts within the COE and operational technology teams, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
  • Define and articulate the mission and methodology of the Manufacturing COE by creating and maintaining a COE charter.
  • Create the vision and own the implementation roadmap for Industry 4.0 transformation.
  • Identify new operational technologies to support digital innovation.
  • Own the end-to-end manufacturing process for Serialized, Batch and Continuous manufacturing models.
  • Responsible for setting up a Manufacturing Operations System (MOS) to standardize manufacturing business processes across the company.
  • Develop and implement an organizational structure to enable COE success.
  • Develop and refine center of excellence (COE) objectives and scope of work considering organizational priorities and the COE’s internal customers’ needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the COE, develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success and impact of the COE.
  • Establish a governance structure and methodology for processes and systems.
  • Build institutional knowledge on business processes and create communities of practice (CoPs) to enable sharing of best practices across the organization.
  • Develop customized communication plans and engagement tactics to build the COE’s visibility and drive its utilization.
  • Foster an inclusive culture built around diversity of thought, collaboration, and teamwork across organizational and geographical boundaries; willing to break down functional silos to optimize business results.
  • Lead, develop and champion transformation within global operations that is aligned to the company strategy and culture, building employee and organizational support and commitment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering with Minimum 15 years’ experience in Manufacturing Operations Management or Operations technology management in a medical device business or other regulated industry
  • Master’s degree / MBA is preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading a large-scale ERP or other business technology transformation.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a COE.
  • Expert at manufacturing best practices and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical skills including FMEA, statistical methods, and Six Sigma techniques. Lean Six sigma black belt certification is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of operational technologies in industrial automation, cyber-physical systems, digital twin, IoT within a manufacturing environment. Prior implementation experience is highly preferred.
