We are looking for Manufacturing Engineers to join us on building the road to space.
In this role you will provide manufacturing direction on the fabrication of composite parts. This role will require you to demonstrate your ability to proactively improve design for manufacturability, eliminate barriers, and tackle unforeseen technical problems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define manufacturing processes for composites fabrication, inspection, trimming, and assembly.
- Closely manage quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process.
- Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.
- Define and support repair and rework activities.
- Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.
- Craft accurate material handling and packaging to protect hardware.
- Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree.
- Prioritize hardware procurement and fabrication and communicate these priorities to the team.
- Extreme customer focus combined with strong verbal and written communication.
Qualifications:
- Support the following shift: Monday-Friday 6AM-4PM
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
- Any years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
- Hardware manufacturing experience with composite parts.
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including solid understanding of GD&T.
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances.
- Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Ability to develop processes to industry quality systems such as AS9100.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
- Experience with automated fiber placement, non-destructive testing, and trimming of composite parts.
- Experience with aircraft, launch vehicle, spacecraft, or satellite development, production, or operations.
- Proficient in writing work instructions at a high pace
- Self-directed and able to balance several tasks at once.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E & CATIA preferred)
