Job Description
Now is a great time to join our Danfoss Team in Plymouth, MN! Danfoss in Plymouth, MN is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our New Product Development (NPD) team. This position is required to use engineering principles and advanced problem-solving skills to design and evaluate electronic assemblies for use in off road automotive applications. An EE is responsible for creating schematics, laying out PCB’s, following good design practices and agreed upon procedures, and verification of the design. An EE must have basic knowledge of all aspects of a product cycle, including marketing, finance, customer service and production. This position is part of the CCS (Connect & Control Solutions) Business Unit.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Perform schematic design using engineering principles and advanced math concepts.
- Create PCB layouts with a complete understanding of the impact of traces, vias, planes, layers and component placement.
- Troubleshooting and bench testing of electrical hardware.
- Understand and interpret international environmental and engineering standards.
- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills.
- Understand and employ a broad knowledge of interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Utilize basic project management skills.
- Apply advanced engineering skills regarding electrical design, analysis and problem solving.
- Review test plans and document test results using basic word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Demonstrate a commitment to maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area.
- Follow safety regulations and actively contribute to work safety.
- Continue education to increase awareness of new technology in the changing electronics field.
- Respond with commitment and sensitivity to satisfy the needs of internal and external customers.
- Promote quality and continuous improvement philosophy.
Background & Skills
The ideal candidate possesses these skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- 0-5 years of related experience.
- Apply advanced mathematical concepts such as algebra, calculus, probability and statistics, geometry and trigonometry.
- Familiar with ECAD tools and mechanical CAD tools. Experience with Altium Designer, NX, and LabVIEW is a plus.
- Read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PCB layout drawings.
- Utilize basic knowledge of the following equipment: digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, PC data acquisition hardware, inspection equipment, signal generators, power supplies, RF equipment and current probes.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Perform basic soldering and PCBA modifications.
- Effectively present information to development engineers, production operators, management teams and public groups.
