Agency Description

The Office of Policy and Strategic Initiatives for Criminal Justice and Public Safety strengthens the coordination of the Office of Violence Prevention, Office of Criminal Justice, Office of Reentry Partnerships, Office of the Victim Advocate and Town Watch Integrated Services into a community-centric dynamic unit. The office is focused on uplifting solutions to reduce violence, enhance the bridge between neighborhoods and City government, as well as amplifies support for returning citizens and families impacted by the criminal justice system, developing and implementing reforms in an equitable fashion informed by the decades of systemic oppression, racism, and poverty.

The Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) implements strategies and initiatives to prevent, reduce, and end violence in Philadelphia. OVP is particularly focused on addressing gun violence.

The Office of Criminal Justice (OCJ) advances the Kenney Administration's goals of public safety and community well-being through collaborative and data-driven initiatives in Philadelphia’s criminal and juvenile justice systems.

The Office of the Victim Advocate (OVA) was opened in February 2022 to provide coordination, strategic planning, and service provision oversight for victims, co-victims and survivors of crime, with a special emphasis on gun violence and homicide.

Town Watch Integrated Services (TWIS) is a volunteer focused safety effort. Residents of the community who wish to volunteer for their community will receive assistance from Town Watch Integrated Services.

The Office of Reentry Partnerships (ORP) was formed in August 2019 and charged with elevating and organizing citywide reentry efforts and supporting the Kenney administration’s goals for violence prevention, criminal justice reform, and community reinvestment. ORP’s mission is to empower returning citizens, partner organizations, and the public to interrupt cycles of recidivism and build thriving communities.

As Philadelphia’s hub for reentry referrals, resources, and training, the goals of the Office of Reentry Partnerships are to: 1) Set a clear vision and direction for a measurable citywide approach to improving reentry outcomes; 2) Drive and sustain an unprecedented level of coordination between the local government, other government partners, service providers, education and training programs, employers, and community members; and 3) ensure that City reentry initiatives are research- and data-driven.

Job Description

The Reentry Trainer & Economic Opportunity Coordinator will support ORP’s efforts to increase access to, and impact of, economic and career pathway opportunities for currently & formerly incarcerated Philadelphians. Career pathway opportunities include all education, training, employment, workforce development, and other economic opportunity-related services, programs, and initiatives. Through research, analysis, project management, partnership development, and other activities, Re-entry Trainer & Economic Opportunity Coordinator will build ORP’s capacity to meaningfully advance a policy agenda, sustain cross-agency partnerships, and develop and scale solutions to often-identified barriers.
