Occupational Health Case Manager-RN (Part-time)

The position is responsible for coordinating the daily functions of Disability Management and Employee Health. Performs functions under the medical supervision of the Medical Advisor to Disability Management using standardized procedures. Plans, organizes, directs, evaluates, communicates and teaches functions and responsibilities associated with Disability Management and Employee Health. Demonstrates ability to meet the needs and provide services to the culturally diverse employee population of The Christ hospital. The Occupational Health Nurse adheres to the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN) code of ethics and to the scope of practice described in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
Employee Health Coordination:
Under direction of the Medical Advisor, oversees pre placement exams conducted by outside vendor. Reviews documentation to ensure that employees are medically capable to perform their basic job duties Coordinates 2 step TB program as required by department of Health.
Ensures TB testing program is effective and in compliance with regulations
Identifies and tracks those exposed to possibly exposed to TB, ensures recent baseline TB is on file and coordinates follow up testing
Organizes and assists with flu program
Ensures employees are safe to wear respirators by reviewing respirator questionnaires.
Coordinates testing, prophylactic treatment, documentation and appropriate medical referrals for employees exposed to individuals with communicable diseases. Works collaboratively with infection control to notify them of any contagious employee illness or other exposure. Counsels exposed susceptible employees concerning incubation period, signs and symptoms and under what condition the individual is required not to work following an exposure.
Tracks and coordinates blood borne pathogen exposures and treatment follow up and other communicable disease exposures and reports trends to appropriate committees
Provides return to work clearances for employee off work for non occupational and non occupational illnesses. Reviews physician information and secures additional information as needed.
Medical Record Keeping
Maintains Employee Health files
Accurately documents as needed and maintains strict confidentiality in dealing with employee health information
Administration of Short Term Disability program
Administration of the Workers’ Compensation Program
Reviews documentation of employee injuries and follow up treatment plan. Provides case management for work related employee injuries and illnesses. Works with treating physicians, directors, supervisors, injured workers and workers compensation carrier in an effort to return the injured worker back to work in a timely manner. Reviews injury reports with employee and supervisor/manager to analyze cause of injury to prevent future occurrences.
Monitors employee accident trends and reports findings to Safety and Environment of Care committee.
Administers and coordinates the Modified Duty Program. Assists department manager in matching employee with appropriate modified duty assignments. Finds assignments in other departments when needed. Monitors employee while on modified duty. Coordinates permanent job modifications with Employee Relations.
Maintain data and create reports on data as needed to report to regulatory agencies and as requested by organizational leaders or committees
Administration of the Family Medical Leave Program

EDUCATION: Minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 4 yrs experience in occupational health or employee health; experience managing workers compensation cases and short term disability cases, experience with regulatory agency requirements and compliance
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Current in-depth knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act; knowledge of workers compensation law, knowledge of case management,; knowledge of OSHA, CDC and Ohio Dep’t. of Health reg
