Senior Program Manager, Autonomous Lab Platform

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Program Manager to lead the construction and implementation of the Autonomous Platform. This is not just a construction project; it is a unique opportunity to contribute to a transformative venture in scientific exploration. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project, from planning and coordination to execution and completion, ensuring that the facility meets the highest standards of quality and functionality.

FL97 currently has a beta-lab that is fully operational.  This PM role will oversee, initially, the ongoing construction of the first Autonomous Platform, with the intent to expand the number of APs over time.  This PM role will, therefore, be responsible for multiple future builds, as well.

Responsibilities
Initial Setup and Planning

• Within 30 days, take ownership of the Project Management Office (PMO) and begin implementing best practices.
• Design a program management processes for the Autonomous Platform team.

Meetings and Communication

• Serve as the liaison between the automation team and other departments to ensure seamless communication on the Autonomous Platform build.
• Facilitate ongoing communication between team members, stakeholders, and external partners.
• Develop and maintain project dashboards and reports to track progress and performance metrics.
• Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, risks, and issues.

Execution and Progress

• Oversee the development of project plans and monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
• Ensure all project activities are aligned with the overall strategic goals and objectives of the company.
• Take the initiative to drive Autonomous Platform progress for all life sciences and physical sciences product campaigns.

Leadership and Team Management

• Lead cross-functional project teams, providing guidance and support to achieve project goals.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in project management.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in project management within the life or physical sciences sector, preferably with a focus on AI and autonomous
• Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• Experience with AI and machine learning applications in scientific research is a plus.

Competencies

• Exceptional Collaboration and Communication Skills: Experience working with many stakeholders and willing to speak on behalf of FL97 to steer us in the right direction.
• Project Management Expertise: Exceptional project management skills, including proficiency in Gantt charts, timeline predictions, and budget
• Knowledge of Construction Builds: Familiarity with construction build requirements, such as permitting schedules and URS.
• Decision-Making Abilities: Ability to make trade-offs based on FL97's mission, vision, and values, knowing when to elevate decisions and when to ask for support.
• Experience with Tight Timelines: Proven track record of meeting tight deadlines and managing projects with large scopes.
• Six Sigma and Process Engineering: Background in Six Sigma and process engineering is a plus.
• Lab Knowledge: Overall lab knowledge, including chemical and biological aspects.
• Leadership: Independent self-starter with a strong ability to lead teams and manage complex, long-term projects.
• Strong Communication Skills: Gifted communicator comfortable with having truth-seeking conversations and presenting the right information to the right audiences.
