About the role

The Workman School of Dental Medicine is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Academic Assessment Coordinator to join our newly expanding CARE team at High Point University’s Workman School of Dental Medicine. This role is essential in supporting the academic operations of the school ensuring smooth functioning of our program’s assessment. You will be responsible for the implementation, and management of the assessment tools and strategies across our curriculum. As a critical member of our academic team, you will play a key role in ensuring that assessment logistics and data are tracked and organized in a preordained system.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field. 

Experience and Training

  • 2-4 years of instructional design experience, preferably within health professions or higher education.
  • Proficiency with an LMS (e.g., Blackboard) and authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, H5P).
  • Solid grasp of adult learning theories, assessment practices, and multimedia development.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including technical writing.

Preferred Education & experience

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field.
  • Familiarity with Bloom's Taxonomy and its application in creating effective assessments.  
  • Familiarity with simulation platforms and/or AR/VR tools. 
  • Background in data analytics and dashboard creation. 
  • Experience in dental or health professions education. 
  • Demonstrated success in collaborative curriculum development and faculty coaching.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Apply instructional design models (ADDIE, Backward Design) to craft measurable learning objectives and assessments.
  • Develop multimedia assets and interactive modules aligned with accreditation standards.
  • Lead faculty workshops and provide one-on-one coaching on learning technologies and active-learning strategies.
  • Measure instructional effectiveness via qualitative and quantitative methods and recommend data-driven improvements.
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships to ensure effective use of our academic applications.
  • Manage concurrent projects, meeting deadlines and organizational requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

Curriculum & Content Design

  • Collaborate with course directors and faculty to develop curriculum maps, course outlines, and detailed lesson plans.
  • Oversee creation of multimedia learning materials (e-modules, videos, infographics).

Technology Integration

  • Partner with the Manager of Educational Technology and simulation teams to integrate platforms (LMS, exam software, simulation tech) into curricula.
  • Liaise with IT/support to troubleshoot and optimize technology use.

Faculty Development

  • Create and deliver training sessions and job aids on instructional best practices and educational tools.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to enhance faculty pedagogical skills.

Quality Assurance & Evaluation

  • Collect and analyze learner feedback, performance data, and usage metrics to evaluate instructional effectiveness.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, updating content and methods based on evidence and emerging pedagogy.

Project Management

  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets for instructional design initiatives.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (faculty, IT, simulation, assessment) to ensure timely delivery.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Works under the supervision of the Manager of Educational Technology, with regular performance reviews incorporating feedback from faculty, staff, and learners.
  • Contributes to departmental goals around curriculum innovation, student success, and accreditation readiness.
