About the role

Position Overview
The Development Communications Manager creates and executes engaging, mission-driven fundraising communications. As part of the Development Communications team, this position also connects the department with the work happening across content teams. This role is critical to strengthening relationships with NYPR’s members and donors, enhancing their experience, and fostering long-term loyalty to the organization. 
Reports To: Director of Listener Services and Development Communications
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelopment Communications
  • Assist in writing and execution of development email campaigns.
  • Work with the team to create the annual report, quarterly impact reports, development board reports, event scripting, program summaries, presentation templates, and thematic packaging.
  • Manage cross-departmental content meetings to ensure the development team is receiving up-to-date information from content creators across the organization.
  • Maintain a repository of meeting notes, the language bank, and archived campaigns on Confluence for the Development team to access.
Email Fundraising & Campaign Execution

  • Implement targeted email fundraising campaigns to support Philanthropy goals, including acquisition, renewal, upgrades, and special appeals.
  • Manage the end-to-end execution of email campaigns, including content creation, audience segmentation, A/B testing, scheduling, and deployment.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of development communications, using data insights to optimize results and drive revenue growth.
Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy and Membership teams to align communications with department goals.
  • Serve as part of the Development Operations team, working together to meet team-wide goals.
  • Ensure unified messaging across Development by gathering resources from external vendors and internal teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. 
  • 1-3 years of experience in communications, marketing, fundraising or a related field
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for crafting engaging and persuasive messaging. 
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate and resolve complex situations.
  • Passion for public media and a commitment to NYPR’s mission and values.

 This role is based in New York City (or the immediate metro area) and operates in a hybrid capacity. This individual is expected to work onsite at WNYC’s Manhattan headquarters at least 2 days a week.  Additional Information This is a full-time role with an annual salary range of $62,000.00 - $77,000.00. Salary offered within this range is determined by skills, experience, and organizational pay equity.
