In the operations team, you actively monitor the congested locations in the electricity grid in a highly automated environment. At System Operations we developed GAAS (Grid as a Service) to automatically activate flex contracts when exceedances of the congestion limits are expected in our short term forecasts. Monitoring the system, taking additional steps when grid safety is threatened and alignment with the IT DevOps teams are part of your responsibility. Handling incidents and taking care of the business impact to the electricity grid is part of your responsibility. Other operational tasks relate for example to flex contract intakes, financial compensation of the curtailments and analysis of smart cable guard systems.
Next to the operational tasks, team OpCaM is involved in the tactical capacity management (to prepare for high loaded locations in the electricity grid in the upcoming 2 years) and setting requirements to the ART-SO for further improvements of GAAS. We also run pilots to test new and innovative options to solve congestion in the electricity grid. At the OpCaM team you are in touch with many different teams and colleagues within Alliander and operational contact persons from clients. Stakeholder management is one of your core competencies.
